Dear St. Gabriel Family,
As we come together for the Twenty-Ninth Sunday ni Ordinary Time, we are reminded of the call to actively participate in the mission of the Church. This weekend, we also celebrate World Mission Sunday, a special day when we join Catholics worldwide to support missionary work. Pope Francis has chosen the theme "Go and invite everyone to the banquet," inspired by the parable of the wedding banquet in Matthew 22:9.
This theme emphasizes two core aspects 1) Going Out and 2) Inviting Everyone. Mission work involves going out into the world, reaching out to those who have not heard the Gospel, and inviting them to experience God's love. It's a call to be active and engaged in spreading the faith. The invitation is universal, reflecting God's love for all. It calls on us to welcome everyone to the feast of the Eucharist and the ultimate banquet in the Kingdom of God.
This call from Jesus challenges us to reach beyond the familiar and bring His message of love, mercy, and hope to those in need. The special collection for World Mission Sunday will help support missionaries who are living out this call in communities around the world. Your contributions will provide essential resources for priests, religious, and lay leaders as they bring the sacraments, education, and humanitarian aid to areas that otherwise might go without.
I encourage you to give generously to this collection and to reflect on how we can all live out the Lord's command to "go out" and share His love in our daily lives. Each of us has a part to play in the Church's mission, whether it's through prayer, support, or actively serving those in need. Thank you all so much for your continued generosity and for being a vital part of our parish community.
