Last week, we reflected on the First Precept of the Church, which calls us to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, fulfilling our duty to "keep holy the Lord's Day." If you missed it, you can find last week's pastor's note on the home page of the parish website.
This week, we turn to the Second Precept, which reminds us to confess our sins at least once a year. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a powerful gift from God—an opportunity to experience His mercy and healing. No matter how many times we may fall, God sits waiting for us to return to Him in the confessional.
While the Church requires at least annual confession, particularly for those in a state of mortal sin, we are encouraged to come more frequently to receive God's grace. Confession not only forgives our sins but strengthens us spiritually, helping us resist temptation and grow in holiness.
On page 8 of this week's bulletin, you can read more about the second precept as wel as the difference between mortal and venial sin.
I encourage you to make confession a regular part of your spiritual life. Our parish offers Reconciliation each week on Saturdays at 3:45pm. Let us continue this journey together as a parish, living out the precepts of our faith and growing in holiness.
